Alcoholism Intervention |

Alcoholism intervention is an important part of recovery and breaking away from alcoholism. An alcoholism intervention facilitates the entrance of an alcoholic individual into an alcoholism treatment program. An alcoholism intervention is a guided and safe opportunity for the friends, loved ones, and family of a person with an alcohol abuse/alcohol addiction/alcoholism problem to let this alcoholic individual know how they feel, and how their lives are being affected. Alcoholism treatment is different from normal medical treatment in that it is not a passive process. In order to succeed, an individual must be active in their own recovery process and continually working to stay healthy. In-patient programs include a daily mix of 1 on 1 counseling, group therapy, physical activity, participation in a 12 step program, and education. The goal is not just to remove the substances (alcohol) from the alcoholic client's body, but to improve and restore the mind, body, and spirit of the alcoholic. The process focuses on getting the client back on track in all aspects of life, and these programs teach how to maintain a healthy, happy life free from alcoholism. Alcoholism treatment and alcohol addiction recovery is a program of group and individual counseling, meetings, behavior modification, medical attention, and life skills building exercises. These special services are generally provided in a specifically designed environment that is safe, relaxing, and serene. This special environment makes recovery much easier and is very beneficial to the treatment process. All of these elements work together to help the recovering alcoholic patient re-enter daily life physically and mentally, (and sometimes even spiritually) prepared to make better life choices, without using alcohol as a coping mechanism. Alcoholism interventions have an extraordinarily high success rate, often upwards of 95%, for getting an afflicted individual to attend an alcoholism recovery and treatment program . Some time before the intervention occurs, treatment program facilitators will meet with family, loved ones, and/or friends to find a suitable and well matched treatment program. Most major alcoholism treatment providers and can recommend programs that accommodate such specific needs as discretion, religion, age, sex, or career. |
